AFFAIRS OF CAPPY RICKS - 1938 - WALTER BRENNAN - RARE DVD
Product Description
As I write this, Katharine Hepburn is the only actor to ever win four Academy Awards. Six actors have won three Academy awards, including Ingrid Bergman, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, and the leading man in this situation comedy adventure, Walter Brennan.
Baby Boomers probably remember Walter Brennan as Grandpa Amos McCoy from the 1957-1963 television sit-com “The Real McCoys.” Born in 1894, he began acting in silent motion pictures in 1925, and appeared frequently in movies and television shows until 1972.
Late in his career he commented that he chose to never appear in a movie that he couldn’t take his whole family to see. When he made this motion picture he was 44 years old, and this same year he would become the first actor to receive a third Academy Award. He might have gotten more, but after he got this one, the ‘extras’ union was forbidden to vote for Academy Awards nominees.
Cappy Ricks is a wealthy businessman from San Francisco who is returning home from a year-long trip around the world. He discovers that his company is being taken from him, with the help of his partner’s widow, one of his own daughters, and a businessman who made his fortune by creating automatic electric devices that make almost everything in life as easy as pushing a button.
Cappy Ricks is determined to regain control of his company and his family, and he makes a bet with his friend Bill, played by Lyle Talbot, that within three months he will have succeeded in getting his business and his family back to normal. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
