TWINS OF EVIL - 1971 - PETER CUSHING - RARE DVD
Directed by John Hough

Starring Peter Cushing and Dennis Price

Last and perhaps tamest of the already Karnstein trilogy of vampire films that was put out by Hammer during the latter years of the horror film company. The films pit good, God-fearing English Christians against the evil Karnstein vampire clan in 19th Century Europe.

Starring Mary and Madeleine Collinson—the first twins ever to appear concurrently as Playboy Centerfolds— as twins targeted by the vampires, this might be the best of the trilogy in terms of story, which isn't saying a whole lot. The twins move into the home of their uncle, a crazed puritan (Cushing) who heads out every night with members of the Brotherhood, looking for witches to burn. Most of the witches they find are just immoral local girls.

NIGHT OF TERROR - BELA LUGOSI - 1933 - RARE DVD
Night of Terror was inspired by the real-life activities of a European scientist who claimed to have created a potion that could revive a person that had been entombed for seven days.

Originally title He Lived to Kill, producers announced this thriller in February 1933. With Lugosi busy shooting International House during the day, the cast and crew of Night of Terror were forced to work from 2:00AM to 6:00AM. Shooting in the middle of the night and the presence of Bela Lugosi himself caused actress Sally Blane to suffer extreme nervousness throughout the production. Director: Benjamin Stoloff

Top-billed Bela Lugosi plays a mysterious Indian mystic who is but one of numerous eccentric characters lingering about in an eerie mansion, stalked by an unseen murderer. Other potential victims/suspects include a reporter, a pair of exotic house servants, a fetching heroine, even an extra psychopath thrown in as a red herring. Also known as "He Lived to Kill."

CAST: Bela Lugosi - Degar Sally Blane - Mary Rinehart Wallace Ford - Tom Hartley Tully Marshall - Richard Rinehart Edwin Maxwell - The Maniac Matt McHugh - Detective Bailey George Meeker - Arthur Hornsby Gertrude Michael - Sarah Rinehart Bryant Washburn - John Rinehart

THE NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF - 1980 - RARE UNCUT VERSION! - IN ENGLISH
This film has been a long time in coming but the wait has been well worth it! Paul Naschy once again dons the familiar personage of the long suffering Count Valdemar Daninsky cursed to turn into a murderous werewolf when the full moon rises ! This is probably one of the best "classic" battles between werewolf and vampire !(in the guise of Countess Elizabeth Bathory). This film has been released in several incarnations with titles such as " The Werewolf VS The Vampire Woman, El Retorno Del Hombre Lobo, The Craving and The Night Of The Werewolf". It is the best in the Valdemar Daninsky saga and high point in Spanish Horror Cinema. The film has been given the "royal treatment" in the fabulous transfer that has been done. It,s really flawless and I,ve never seen this film in a better version. It is uncut and beautifully restored. I would hazard a guess that The Night Of The Werewolf didn,t look this good in it,s original theatrical release !! If you love gothic Horror with iconic characters this film delivers in spades !

TERROR IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE - 1958 - PSYCHORAMA - RARE DVD
TERROR IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE 1958 PSYCHORAMA DVD

Psychorama, also called the precon process, is the act of communicating subliminal information through film by flashing images on the screen so quickly that they cannot be perceived by the conscious mind.

In 1958, a film called My World Dies Screaming (later retitled Terror in the Haunted House) marked Hollywood's first attempt to make use of this technique. At different points in this film, a skull is flashed to inspire terror, a snake to inspire hate, two hearts to inspire love, and large letters spelling out "blood" to create fear. The following year, 1959, saw another film produced using this same format, titled A Date with Death. Both movies starred Gerald Mohr.

HORROR EUROPA - DOCUMENTARY OF EUROPEAN - HORROR MOVIES! - RARE DVD
HORROR EUROPA U.K. documentary. An exploration of European horror cinema. Horror fan and historian Mark Gatiss tours the capitals of Europe to give us a history of European horror cinema. Locations include: Belgium, Slovakia, Germany, France, Italy and Spain; and along the way he interviews several of the major players in the genre. Horror Europa asserts that horror cinema can be seen as a response to social and economic turmoil. In the after effects of World War I, the German horror cinema coming into prominence as directors and producers tried to re-establish the country as an artistic powerhouse after a crippling war.

Films such as The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari (1920) and Nosferatu (1922) are seen as responses to the then-current sociocultural environment, as well as being influenced by artistic movements such as Expressionism. Similarly in the post-1945 period French horror cinema was fashioned by the fallout from four years of Nazi occupation as well as the extremes of the Vichy government; films such as Les Diaboliques (1955) dramatized fears of moral and social breakdown.

In the 1960s, Italian horror cinema came into its own as a result of the work of Mario Bava, who developed a style all his own combining thriller and horror elements, all filmed in a lurid color palette in which individual sequences assumed more significance than plot-coherence. Even today these films are quite disturbing to watch for their creep factor and shock value. In more recent years, Spanish horror cinema has set the tone for much of Euro-horror.

THE OVAL PORTRAIT (1972) - WITH WANDA HENDRIX - RARE DVD
This low-budget Mexican production (originally produced for television) is a tepid but fairly accurate adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's tale, set during the Civil War. The story involves a young woman haunted by the vengeful spirit of a young bride, whose soul had been trapped for decades within the woman's portrait (painted by her insane husband). The occasionally rich period atmosphere is flattened almost completely by sluggish pacing, badly-dubbed (and equally dull) dialogue, and an insolvent ending which may lead the viewer to believe the filmmakers have lost a few pages of Poe's original text. The entire affair plays like one of Roger Corman's Poe adaptations -- albeit staged without humor, style or verve. Color. Runtime: 89 minutes.

He takes off after the three men, getting rid of everybody who stands in his way. He is impervious to police bullets. He kills Ellis and Marcelli, while Lowe seeks police protection. THE GHOUL - 1933 - BORIS KARLOFF - RARE DVD
Professor Henry Morlant, played by Boris Karloff, is dying. The wealthy man has spent his fortune to purchase the jewel of eternal life, stolen from the Egyptian grave of a Pharaoh. With only a few breaths of life remaining in his body, he orders his limping servant to place the jewel in his hand and then bind that hand with bandages to seal the jewel in his palm. Egyptian legend says that when the full moon shines on the door of his grave, if he is clutching the jewel of eternal life in his hand, he will come back to life, unwrap the jewel of life and put it into the palm of an Egyptian statue that will grant him eternal life.

Now, with only moments to live, the old professor tells his servant that he is the only man that he fully trusts to obey his orders, and the servant begins to wrap the old man’s hand with the jewel of life clutched in it.

The next evening at sunset the old man is buried in a tomb with his bandaged hand, and the family gathers in the old mansion to hear the last will and testament of the old fellow. Unfortunately, the trusted limping servant has stolen the jewel of life and bandaged the old man’s hand with nothing clutched in his fist.

On the night of the first full moon, with a mansion full of relatives and other strange people, the dead man comes to life and staggers out of his grave and towards his mansion, in search of the jewel of life that should have been clasped in his hand. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
